Investing in gold with as little as 1 lira

In the Press · September 10, 2025

With gold prices at record levels on global markets, growing expectations that the US Federal Reserve will cut rates are lending further support to prices.

Forecasts of $5,000

Goldman Sachs’ assessment that gold could climb to around $5,000 an ounce if the Fed’s independence were undermined has turned both institutional and individual investors’ eyes to the metal.

Saving drop by drop

Payment platforms that enable silver and platinum as well as gold to be bought and sold digitally let individual investors in particular act immediately on live market developments. Goldtag, which is digitalizing precious-metal investment, lets users invest in gold through its own app with amounts as small as 1 lira.

24/7 transactions

The app gives access to the best prices outside business hours too: users can convert their gold at the current rate and transfer the TL equivalent to their own bank account 24/7. If they wish, they can keep saving in different units — quarter, half, full and gram. Goldtag Co-Founder and CEO Dolunay Sabuncuoğlu said: “We are turning financial access into a simple, secure and social experience.”

A $50M valuation

Goldtag reached a $50M valuation with the $10M it raised in a Series A round led by RePie Portföy and joined by Turkcell, Colendi, Finberg and Inveo Portföy. Having grown tenfold since its seed round, the company carries out more than 1 million transactions a month for 2.2 million users. Set to accelerate tokenization and its Middle East expansion with the new investment, Goldtag is targeting 5 million active users in 2026.
